Riddled with epiphanies
And answers never known
Unlocked secret mysteries
With fears that I've outgrown
So much time has passed us now
There's nothing left but truth
No special paths to tell us how
Nor idol given proof
I see now all the things I've lost
And how I broke your heart
But I'll never know just what it cost
For our two souls to part
I can't be me without your love
But you can't stand by my side
So I'll remain this wingless dove
And pray for one more ride.
I know I cannot keep you
Nor live life in our past
But there's one thing that I must do
And kiss this kiss, our last
My writing
Friday, June 04, 2004
As you sleep beside me
And I lie awake in the silence
I focus all my thoughts
and all my heart on you
Without words, or touch, or recognition
I see you
i see you as a child
Dreaming of ideals
and endless summer days
I see you as you grow
A young boy striving to become a man
As you grow and age time does not jade you
You mean more to people than you ever knew
And more to me than I sometimes care to realize.
I see you as an old man
Never regretting the shape your life has taken
Loving the sunlight as much as the rain
And knowing that every thorn has taught you a lesson
Then I find myself back in our room
In our bed
With you asleep by my side once more
I see your whole life in you
And I weep at how beautiful it is
I so long to make you a quilt of your fondest memories
To wrap around you on winter nights
When my kiss cannot destroy the cold
I kiss your eyelids and whisper, "i love you"
in hope that it brings you the sweetest dreams
I rest my head on the rise and fall of your chest
and close my eyes
I dream without a single care, a single worry.
You protect me from everything I fear
You bring me solitude and happiness
Summertime and warmth
Laughter and love.
